What is automatic warehouse system?
An automatic warehouse system is a distribution system for centralized management and automation of the flow of goods from warehousing, storage, and delivery.
Traditional warehouse operations were all done manually by in-house workers, but the automated warehouse system, also known as the “automation system” to automate a series of warehousing, storage, and warehousing operations, can be expected to improve efficiency and significantly reduce labor costs. The logistics industry is drawing attention as a way to solve the worsening labor shortage.
Warehouse automation
1.Automatic warehouse system
This is an automation system that manages and automates the warehousing, storage, and delivery of products.
The type of automated warehouse is,
・System for storing goods (infinite goods and parts) as pallet in a rack
・System for managing high layer pallet article in rack.
・Free-size type Systems for storing goods of various shapes and sizes using trays, containers, etc.
・Mobile shelving system System for storing goods on motorized racks mounted on a mobile trolley.
2.Picking system
This refers to all systems that make picking more efficient, generally using a handheld terminal to read barcodes, which scans barcodes, counts the number of stock and automatically totals the number of items.
3.Automated transfer robot
Recently, automated transfer robots and AI have been increasingly used in warehouses, and there are various types of automated transfer robots, including a small robot that can crawl under racks to lift and carry them.
Employees no longer need to walk around the warehouse and can pick at work stations.
4.Warehouse Management System(WMS)
Warehouse management systems are systems that streamline operations such as stock counts, receiving, shipping, inspection and picking in warehouses. For example, they manage the progress of receiving and shipping operations and issue delivery receipts.
